Savannah is known for its grid system, architecture, and history; therefore walkability is a key element for connecting the city. The location next to the SCAD owned Pei Ling Gallery is an ideal location to strengthen the connection between downtown to the south side of HWY 16. By analyzing the site, the attempt to stretch the urban fabric through a temporary fresh market is proposed to promote foot traffic with reference to one of savannahs major economic resources. A combination of shipping containers and tensile structure would create a modern market where shopping, dining, and art come together.
